High-performance Enzyme Solutions

Following the acquisition and rebranding of Eucodis Bioscience as Biosynth, the company has become a global leader in providing specialized high-performance enzyme solutions, offering clients the combined expertise of Eucodis and Biosynth to enable innovative biocatalytic synthesis routes for small molecules. Established in 2007, Eucodis Bioscience has pioneered the use of patented technologies such as “in vivo recombination” and other advanced enzyme engineering methods to create innovative enzyme-based biocatalysts for industrial and white biotechnology applications.

Today, the Biosynth extensive enzyme portfolio comprises over 50 enzymes, including groundbreaking lipases, beta-lactamases, peroxidases, and other enzyme variants.

Diverse Assortment of Research Enzymes

The Biosynth range of research enzymes includes the following categories:

Hydrolases: These enzymes facilitate the breaking of chemical bonds within molecules by utilizing water, typically resulting in the fragmentation of the target molecule into smaller components. Hydrolases are further classified based on the type of bond they act upon, such as peptide bonds (proteases, peptidases) or esters (esterases, lipases, nucleases).

Lyases: Lyases, on the other hand, catalyze the rupture of a chemical bond between a carbon atom and another atom (such as oxygen, sulphur, or carbon) without the involvement of water (hydrolysis). This process, known as an elimination reaction, can lead to the formation of new bonds and the creation of novel products. In cases of significant products, the lyase may be named as a product-synthase rather than a substrate-lysase.

Oxidoreductases: This extensive class of enzymes orchestrates the transfer of electrons from one molecule (the oxidant) to another (the reductant). Comprising roughly one-third of all recorded enzyme activities, oxidoreductases encompass various subtypes, including oxidases, peroxidases, and catalases. Among their ranks are luciferases, which generate bioluminescence by incorporating molecular oxygen. Biosynth offers a range of luciferases from different sources, including the outstanding, robust X-Shining™ Luciferase. The X-Shining™ all-in-one ATP Assay (EX180920) combines Biosynth’s exceptional X-Shining™ Luciferase with everything that is required for the specific bioluminescent detection of ATP levels in a single vial.

Transferases: Transferases specialize in catalyzing the transfer of functional groups from one molecule (the donor) to another (the acceptor). These enzymes are categorized based on the specific functional group they transfer (such as phosphoryl, methyl, or glycosyl), and their nomenclature often reflects the donor-acceptor group relationship (e.g., methyltransferases, phosphorylases).

Innovative Enzyme Screening Kits

Biosynth offers enzyme screening kits designed to help researchers identify the ideal enzyme for their specific applications. With the versatility of enzymes spanning various industries and pioneering research areas, Biosynth leverages its industry-leading expertise in enzyme development and production to create unique panels of key enzymes tailored for use in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and fine chemical applications.

These innovative enzyme screening kits provide researchers with a wide range of enzyme variants to explore different target substrates and reaction conditions for their biocatalysis projects.

Enzyme Screening Kits Include:

Once selected, Biosynth can provide these high-quality enzymes in large quantities, offering guidance and even collaborating with researchers on the development of new enzymes tailored to their requirements.

Biosynth’s enzyme offerings include:

Nitrile Hydratases: These eco-friendly metalloenzymes convert toxic nitriles into valuable amide products, finding applications in industries such as textiles, cosmetics, biocatalysis, and pesticide synthesis. Biosynth offers individual enzymes and a comprehensive Nitrilhydratase Kit.

Lipases: With over 50 unique lipases available, Biosynth’s collection is suitable for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and fine chemical industries. Lipases hydrolyze ester bonds in triglycerides, making them valuable in specialty ester synthesis and enantio-selective hydrolysis.

Phospholipase D: Biosynth’s Phospholipase D Kit features four highly selective recombinant enzymes with broad pH ranges for transphosphatidylation reactions. Applications include pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and enhancing skin moisture.

Peroxidases: These oxidoreductase enzymes serve various roles, from epoxidation to detoxification and industrial waste removal. Biosynth’s Peroxidase Kit contains two recombinant peroxidases suitable for enzyme immunoassays, flavor and fragrance production, denim washing, and more.

Beta-Lactamase Enzymes: Biosynth offers high-performing beta-lactamases under the LacBuster™ brand, optimized for sterility testing, environmental monitoring, and diagnostics of beta-lactam antibiotics.

Biosynth’s enzyme products are available in various forms, from liquid solutions to lyophilized powders, and the company offers customized services, including substrate screening and enzyme immobilization.
