Amyloid Beta for Neurodegenerative Disease Research

StressMarq provides a cutting-edge selection of Amyloid Beta Pre-formed Fibrils (PFFs), Oligomers, and Monomers specifically designed to facilitate advanced neurodegenerative disease research.

Monomeric Amyloid Beta

StressMarq’s synthetically produced Amyloid Beta Peptide 1-42 (Aβ42) is a crucial component in the study of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. This peptide consists of 42 amino acids and is associated with the formation of amyloid plaques, a hallmark feature of Alzheimer’s pathology. Upon reconstitution in a mixture of DMSO and dH2O, the StressMarq Aβ42 peptide appears as a monomeric form, devoid of fibrils, as confirmed by observations using TEM, AFM, and Western Blot analysis with an anti-amyloid beta antibody.

Amyloid Beta Pre-formed Fibrils (PFFs) & Oligomers

StressMarq’s meticulously crafted Amyloid Beta 1-42 (Aβ42) Oligomers and Amyloid Beta 1-42 (Aβ42) Pre-formed Fibrils (PFFs) are generated from Amyloid Beta Peptide 1-42, which is pre-treated with 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP) following a well-established procedure.

The Aβ42 PFFs exhibit elongated strands when observed under TEM and AFM, displaying a distinctive high molecular weight signal on a Western Blot with an anti-amyloid beta antibody.

Furthermore, the StressMarq-developed Aβ42 oligomers manifest as compact globular structures when examined through TEM and AFM, featuring a unique dimer/trimer and oligomer signal on a Western Blot with an anti-amyloid beta antibody.

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was employed to examine amyloid beta 1-42 monomers (catalog# SPR-485, left), oligomers (catalog# SPR-488, middle), and fibrils (catalog# SPR-487, right). AMF analysis of 1.0 mg/mL samples diluted to 0.1 mg/mL in dH2O, mounted on freshly cleaved mica, washed, dried and analyzed with tapping mode. Representative images are 2.5 x 2.5 µm x-y with a z-range of 10 nm.

Evaluating Neurotoxicity

StressMarq’s selection of bioreagents to investigate neurodegenerative diseases includes advanced Amyloid Beta 1-42 oligomers, pre-formed fibrils (PFFs), and monomeric peptides. The Amyloid Beta 1-42 Oligomers (catalog# SPR-488) and Amyloid Beta 1-42 PFFs (catalog# SPR-487) have been observed to exhibit dose-dependent toxicity towards primary rat cortical neurons, providing valuable insights into their potential impact in neurodegeneration. In contrast, the Amyloid Beta 1-42 Monomers (catalog# SPR-485) do not demonstrate significant toxicity.

These products have been carefully designed to facilitate research of neurodegenerative diseases. By investigating the effects of different forms of amyloid beta on neuronal viability, researchers can gain a comprehensive understanding of their role in disease progression.
