L.B. Bohle to Showcase New Machines and Continuous Manufacturing Innovations at ACHEMA
L L.B. Bohle to reveal new laboratory coater, dry granulator and sieving machine at ACHEMA 2024
L.B. Bohle once again puts the spotlight on cutting-edge machines and continuous manufacturing at ACHEMA which will be held from the 10th to the 14th of June 2024 at Messe Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Building on the success of their previously showcased and German Design Award-winning machines—the BFC 400 tablet coater, the BRC 100 dry granulator, and the QbCon® 1, the industry’s only truly continuous wet granulator and dryer—L.B. Bohle is set to introduce even more advancements at this year’s event.
With the BFC 5 laboratory coater, the BTS 200 sieving machine and the BRC 25 dry granulator, Bohle is presenting the next generation of machines. Attendees will also see the BRC 100 and QbCon® 1 systems for continuous tablet production on display with the LM 40 laboratory mixer completing the impressive lineup of exhibits.
With the QbCon® 1, Bohle will showcase the world’s only machine for truly continuous wet granulation and fluidized bed drying. Designed to facilitate a smooth transition into continuous production the QbCon® 1 delivers reliable and rapid results. Truly continuous drying and granulation are achieved with very short and reproducible dwell times in the dryer and stable granule quality in terms of moisture and particle size. The machine is both space-saving and ideal for low throughput volumes (0.5-2.5 kg/h), making it an excellent choice for R&D and scaling operations.
The new BRC 25 dry granulator addresses the growing demand for continuous processing with its advanced electromechanical drive system that eliminates the need for oil, thereby reducing maintenance and energy consumption. The BRC 25 also features rapid assembly and disassembly, taking less than 10 minutes, and allows for quick screen changes between conical and oscillating sieves. Both the BRC 25 and BRC 100 models are equipped with fast and effective WIP (wash-in-place) cleaning systems, ensuring high standards of hygiene and operational efficiency.
With the BFC 5, L.B. Bohle unveils its new laboratory coater, showcasing significant improvements in operation, accessibility, cleaning, and flexibility over previous models. A new modular nozzle arm for up to four nozzles, depending on the application, stands for flexibility and excellent coating results. The BFC 5 laboratory coater can be operated with a total of three different drum sizes. As standard, the coater is equipped with two drums that allow batch sizes of 2 to 6 liters and 5 to 13 liters, respectively. Scale-up is of course guaranteed.
A new slotted mini-drum for testing and very small batches of 150 to 350 grams provide even greater flexibility. Now it is possible to coat not only full-size cores, but also small cores as small as 1.5 millimeters in diameter. This makes the drum an effective and profitable addition, particularly in product development and for cost-intensive active ingredients or formulations.
For the very first time, L.B. Bohle will also present the technically optimised and redesigned BTS 200, which is used to calibrate the particle size of dry or wet products. The new flexible system features improved ease of operation, optimised CIP cleaning and reduced product loss thanks to improved blade geometry.
By presenting these innovative solutions at ACHEMA, L.B. Bohle demonstrates its ongoing commitment to advancing pharmaceutical manufacturing technology and meeting the industry’s evolving needs.
