Perfect Blending Every Time – Blending Systems by L.B. Bohle

L.B. Bohle has become one of the leading manufacturers of pharmaceutical blending equipment due to its revolutionary design, flexibility, and long service life.

Routinely, the most diverse blending technologies are used in the manufacturing processes of pharmaceutical companies and contract manufacturers around the world.

The Highest Flexibility Blending Systems

The L.B Bohle product portfolio stands out with a great variety thanks to high flexibility in the fields of construction and production. The blenders can then be customized to suit the customer’s individual manufacturing needs and regular specifications. This is why, in the pharmaceutical industry, L.B. Bohle’s blenders are used in all possible manufacturing scenarios.

The patented technology using blending elements integrated on the inside of the container lid results in extremely homogeneous powder batch blending by systems. Scaling up from 4 to 12,000 liters can be achieved depending on the process.

The blending containers are provided as interchangeable containers with a volume of up to 2,400 liters as standard. For densities ranging from 0.2 to 1.2 kg/l, each blending container can be used to effectively mix between 20 and 85 percent of the total container capacity. The different pick-up systems are another key design element. L.B. Bohle provides five different pick-up systems to its customers.

Five Different Pick-Up Systems

The most frequently demanded versions are those with a standard load arm and clamps. Four electronically controlled quick clamps dock the containers. Containers that are mounted on an undercarriage with a volume of up to 1,200 liters, can be adapted to the blender without the use of extra lifting equipment. A chopper mounted in the container lid may also be used as an option. The chopper motor is built into the blender’s load arm.

Facilitated by the highly flexible bender design, there is a model where the system can be swiveled around its vertical axis. This allows for the best possible adaptation to the preferences of customers. Further advantages of the design include the long service life and extremely low maintenance.

In another highly desirable version of the pharmaceutical blender, the container is designed to slide onto two pick-up mandrels with its adapter pipes. The container is held in place by two screws on the front side grip, which prevents it from sliding. Furthermore, the container is lifted via the blending systems and set into rotation, as with other L.B. Bohle blending systems.

Perfect Solution for Automated Container Pick-Up

In the third version of blending systems, the load arm is fitted with eccentric clamps. The containers are picked up by tines and automatically braced through eccentric movement in the pick-up pipes, also known as adapter pipes. This is a very secure type of container pick-up which is perfectly suited for automated container pick-up, such as on a guide rail. If the containers have a circumferential frame, they can be picked up and placed in an inverted position.

This model is also available in a pivoting version which can be swiveled around the vertical axis. Load support with power clamps is included in a different version. These apply pressure to the standing frame’s lower frame, ensuring that the container is tightly braced with the load support. They may be adjusted using the standing frame or through support rails at the machine body. To accommodate existing blending processes, load handling is possible either straight or at an angle of up to 30 degrees.

L.B. Bohle also provides a system with hydraulic clamps equipped on the load arm as a fifth version. The containers are hydraulically clamped between the load support’s fixed and movable parts. The system’s safe operation is ensured by a variety of sensors and corresponding controls. Load handling can be adapted to different container types. Pick-up at an angle of 30 degrees is also possible. In connection with a lifting unit, the design is particularly flexible and, above all, has a small footprint.

Regardless of the container type used in manufacturing, all five models of the L.B. Bohle mixing systems reflect the design’s flexibility: L.B. Bohle blenders can accommodate round or square containers with perfect blending results every time.
