New Freeze-dried qPCR Kit Enables Rapid Legionella Detection

Legionella may now be detected within 2 hours using a newly designed ready-touse freeze-dried qPCR kit developed by myPOLS Biotec.

Legionella detection within 2 hours with the Bio Lp1- qPCR Kit

The Bio Lp-1 test kit, developed jointly by top industry partners*is a multiplex real-time PCR assay that can identify and distinguish between Legionella genus, L. pneumophila (serogroups 1-16), and L. pneumophila sg1, in a single water sample. Bio Lp-1 is a novel rapid and highly sensitive qPCR assay that delivers a full Legionella profile in less than 2 hours. This groundbreaking product, which has been granted the renowned EU Fast Track to Innovation Award in 2020, has the potential to revolutionize the global testing landscape for the human pathogen Legionella.

All-in-one and ready-to-use qPCR Kit for Legionella detection

The project’s goal was to create an assay that includes all components needed for multiplex qPCR. The all-in-one Bio Lp-1 kit is ready-to-use and includes all sample preparation elements. All of the multiplex PCR components are freeze-dried, enabling the PCR process to start with only one pipetting step per sample. Requiring storage at ambient temperature only, thus negating the need for polystyrene-boxes and cold chain logistics, the entire kit can be shipped in an environmentally friendly way.

Since 2015, myPOLS Biotec has been developing and manufacturing standard and customized freeze-dried reagents for PCR applications, and was, therefore, the partner of choice for this project. Bio Lp1- qPCR Kit for rapid Legionella species detection and identification will be available on the market soon via distributor Genaxxon bioscience.
